I've gotten a few questions regarding the skin and hair products I use so I decided to do a skincare post to share some of my favorites!
About a few months ago, I decided to start using natural products after I read about all the hazardous chemicals in most cleansers and creams. Nothing is going to be 100% pure and organic, but I still try to use as many natural ingredients on my skin as possible. I've been using Dr. Bussell's anti-bacterial soap for years and I'm kind of afraid to try something new, so I wash my face with that everyday and every night. My skin can get really dry so I'm always piling on all kinds of moisturizers and oils. I like Andalou Naturals Daily Defense SPF cream, it keeps my skin dewy all day long. I'm also obsessed with misting my face- Mario Badescu rosewater spray is one of my staples. Twinlab Na-PCA spray is also great because it has the natural moisturizing factor that's already in your skin. Right now I'm using this spray for my body instead of using lotion. Some of my favorite nighttime products include Aesop Primrose Hydrating Cream and Clarins Santal Face Treatment Oil. I alternate between the two and both of them do an outstanding job of making my skin soft and plump. As far as eye creams go, I'm always experimenting with new ones but my favorites right now are Eminence Herbal Eye Contour cream for the day and Avalon Organics Vitamin C cream for night. I never really understood the hype around eye creams until I started using them. I just feel like my under eye concealer always look better with an eye cream base... but that's how it is with any moisturizer or cream.
My go-to hair product is Shu Uemera Extreme Urushi sap to really texturize the curls and waves in my hair. It's super sticky so I just use a little bit and run it through my hair while it's still a bit damp.
Hope this post answered any questions! x

anti-bacterial soap is actually not the best option! not only will it kill the bad, disease-causing bacteria, but the good bacteria that helps keep us healthy! It may also be why your face is uber dry! I work in a medical office, and my hands have been seriously drier ever since!
I suggest trying to find something gentler and not anti-bacterial!
Thanks so much for sharing!

How curly is your hair naturally? I hardly remember when it was longer, but you wore it straight almost all the time, right? I love the wave that is coming out as you let it get a bit longer.
Super nice post!!

Thanks for sharing your skin care products! I love Mario Badescu products too! Have a great weekend, Karla!
You probably have dry skin because you wash it twice a day with soap! Try something else. There are lots of organic cream cleansers out there.

You go girl! I am so glad you have switched to natural products. You already have a super beautiful skin so probably you don´t need much. I also love Avalon products. I also use Dr.Hauschka face oil. It smells delicious and it is not greasy! Love, Teresa
I completely agree - I stopped using synthetic chemicals after A) I stopped wearing polish for a few months and my nails went from yellow and peeling to pink and healthy and B) as the child of two cancer survivors, I am tempting fate by using products with carcinogens. Andalou Naturals makes great stuff, and I love Singing Dog vanilla chapstick (from Oregon) and Butter London nail polish (Essie nail polish is the worst carcinogen offender).
Hey Karla, I'm not sure if you are aware of this but the Twinlab Na-PCA formula has changed apparently and they are not using natural safe ingredients anymore! I went out and bought the spray after reading your post thinking it could be great for my super dry skin (ahh! lol) but after I purchased it, I read the ingredients & noticed one was borax which I'm pretty sure is toxic to humans. Also I read some reviews online (which is how I know the formula is different) stating the ingredients are no longer ones good for the skin. Hope you see this and are more aware of the product. I returned mine before using it, although I was disappointed because I thought I finally found something great :/. Keep up the great work girl! Love everything you're doing, and hope you continue to be successful in all your ventures!
