i have done quite a bit of vintage shopping in my day, and while tassels can be found aplenty on furniture and certain clutches, on the shoulders is a new one for me as well. i like the cut, particularly the high front slit, which keeps it from being a tad austere. what an incredible lucky find. that escada belt is divine as well.

Well it is officially my most favorite dress too!! I have never seen tassels on the shoulders of a dress either. Ever since I laid my eyes on that gold Gucci tassel belt (that I could never afford) I have been in love with tassels!! It just so happens that I found the bomb-est tassel belt at a vintage store the other day. I plan on bedazzling (my word for making it more fabulous) it up soon. You look like a million bucks BOO!! Karla,how do you wear all these fairly dressy vintage finds day to day as a young girl in California? Where do you wear them? Always for brunch/coffee/errands?
I do appreciate the sartorial merit in so many of the vintage dresses you find, as well as the shoes and jewellry you pair them with (personally not much of a bag person)- but what is the point if the clothes are not functional at all?
Surely that takes away from the beauty if clothes. True style is being able to dress for the occasion. I would love to see you dress for your life, rather than bending your life around how you dress! After all,what is more important?

Is the most fabolous person in the room the most overdressed? If I go to lunch, say, and there is a girlwearing a fifties ballgown, full make up, 6 inch platforms and pounds of baubles, there ain't nothing fab about her. Her outfit may objectively look stunning, but CONTEXT DETERMINES EVERYTHING. Just because I look great in a Missoni bikini, I'm not going to wear it to coffee with a friend. What's fabolous about that?
By the way Karla, I am NOT taking a dig. You are not the hypothetical person I just described.
The awesome find is so much sweeter if there is the perfect occasion to which to wear it! Karla herself has said she wished she had occasions to get dressed up for.
It is all subjective. The same outfit can be fabolous for one thing, awkward for the next.
To me, Karla is stylish. I would just extract so much more joy if I saw her stylishness effortlessly incorporated into her life.
