Show Some Skin

Crop tops are my favorite, all year round. I love pairing them with slim trousers or poofy square-dancing skirts! Also trying out a turban for the first time after watching a tutorial on youtube yesterday.
Wearing an American Apparel crop top, vintage trousers, Elizabeth and James Monroe sunglasses, Prada pumps, and vintage jewelry.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far!

I like your blog and everything, but I'm sorry... this is too much rihanna slash beyonce slash wannabe black look-a-like.

Stay true to your Mexican roots. Too bad we don't see any influence of your background in your clothing.

and that second anonymous comment needs to F*** OFF, you don't look like a wannabe anything. you are original and hundreds of us visit your site daily to get inspiration from you. we are YOUR wannabes! i love that they can make stupid judgements but hide their identity because they would get hell from us. "stay true to your mexican roots" and dont wear crop tops and stripe pants? ..idiot. we should be supporting each other as women, and you are fabulous.

Anonymous said...

hey karla, i usually love your blog but i find this kind of offensive. you are appropriating someone elses culture and experience when wearing this "turban". the turban for many is a religious piece and people have a lived experience of hate crimes and being killed because of wearing this in the u.s. for you to to take that and just wear it for "fashion" which is something you can take off at any time you want and not have to suffer the lived real experience that people do who wear this because of their religion isn't fair of you. i think we should be more responsible when we choose what to wear . cultural and religious appropriation is no joke.

Personally, I think the idea of incorporating the BEAUTY of other cultures into your outfits is outstanding. I love your fearless fashion and I find you in no way offensive. If we all lived in a way to avoided criticism we would lead extremely boring and sad lives. If you are offended by this outfit how about you click the x in the top right corner of your screen, and try back tomorrow. This girl is doing something different and original. Clearly she is not trying to offend. Be disappointed in society, not a girl who is just trying to do something beautiful.

I love you KARLA, but this head piece, doesn't do anything for your gorgeous face! I saw something similar on June Ambrose. I guess it's an avant-garde spin on a head wrap... enough said.

Nonetheless, you look fabulous as always. I'm coveting your shades, I love the frames and how it slants at the top like a cute, rocker, 50's, pin-up girl brow.
