I Saw the Sun

The weather has been so beautiful lately, I figured it was only appropriate to whip out one of my favorite frilly skirts on a trip to run errands...

Wore a sequined gold blouse from American Rag, vintage navy blue blazer, Topshop tutu-esque skirt, and one of my favorite pair of shoes by Prada..
Thanks for all of the bike-riding tips, I really am considering buying a bike this weekend.

some of these comments are so immature. do you really have to go out of your way and post mean comments about something that clearly isn't true? if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all. haven't you heard of that? Karla, please ignore the haters. those comments have no basis. you have an amazing sense of styling and taste and your body is gorgeous. End of story.

Wtf? let her wear whatever the fuck she wants.. shees!

What is happening??!!
No matter what is going on in earth, womens' bodies seem to get ALL the attention. What's up with that?!

Karla, it's an insult to say "You look like a normal woman :)" like someone said before. Normal doesn't describe you at all! You're cute, sexy, classy, intelligent and funny at the same time and if that's normal, then i can say you're normal.

people just wanna be exactly what you are. i do too, but i won't let myself make you feel bad about yourself. How is it away from me if you look good?

Anonymous said...

hi karla,

your outfit is well put together. it is indeed a wonderful combination between glam and nautical.

however, the skirt is a wee bit too short. i applaud you for taking the risk and having fun with it. but as a concerned reader, that skirt is calling another message. i wonder if you can actually walk around without worrying for a slight gust of wind or any movement that will show more than what is asked.

just a thought.

Karry said...

its not hate, its truth. her readers are telling her not to wear it, because its not flattering.. obviously they could have gone about in a different way..
i have very similar legs as karla, kind of short, and muscular from playing soccer my whole life.. but i know what looks good and what doesnt and i have to say karla your beautiful, but a lot of what fashion is, is knowing your body type and dressing according to that:)
just some helpful advice

love ya karla!

I have legs exactly like yours...don't listen to all them stupid idiots...
I think you carry off all your outfits amazingly well...and they are very well thought out and coordinated!

natalia said...

Karry if you read her blog regularly you would've read a post about "dressing according to your body" and how much she think that is bullshit.

who are you people to decide who can wear skirts and who can't? it would be different if she had obvious cellulite or actually FAT legs, but she doesnt!

Anonymous said...

Yes its the truth!!!
you have chunky legs, there is no getting away from it?! But i guess you know that already.

in all your posts your legs look very chunky and more so with delicate looking shoes-this just emphasizes how muscular your legs are.
You pathetic fools are too scared to speak the truth, there is no harm in saying this look doesn't suit her, which it does not. Grow a backbone-sheesh!

Anonymous said...

natalia-its called giving her a heads up! on what does not suit her at all. Them big man thighs do not look good!!!!

Satura said...

havent you guys realised it by now? karla writes these comments herself. she thinks by doing it makes her more popular and cool like Rumi's blog is. but it doesn't just makes you look pathetic Karla and I know why you never show that side of your face i've seen it at school. I also know you never dress this way IN REAL LIFE. the whole blog is a fucking act. and YES YOUR LEGS ARE fucking gross and photoshop can't fix your cellulite or mustache. sorry. nice try. buh bye.

im sorry i dont read every single thing karla has written, but natalia, if you believe that karla is correct and wearing clothes that flatter your body is bullshit, then go right ahead and look hideous, some things dont suit certain people.
its life.
and its not that her legs are fat they are just muscular, and if a skirt or shorts cut off at the wrong point, its just going to look terrible.

Karla, i hope these comments dont offend you, but its simply advice like i said before. your not fat by all means,

Wow, you look amazing! Such an awesome combination. One question, how do you stay decent? :-P

(Omg I just noticed the comment at the end...Ouch! It never ceases to shock me that some people are so readily cruel to others that have the guts to share themselves on the 'Net, and yet those same evil people will never expose themselves for fear of it happening to them! It's horrible.)

love your style, karla! :) dont listen to what the haters. u look gorgeous! :) ive actually just started following your blog. and im such a huge fan now! love your style and wish i was brave enough to pull bold looks like yours off! :) plus im a flats/sandals/sneakers person. you've made me interested in heels! gosh i need help in that department! any advice?

and ive just recently gotten myself a blazer. inspired by u obviously! :D keep posting karla!

Do the people leaving ugly comments really have nothing else to do? I also think those rude comments should be deleted. You're gorgeous! Definitely JEALOUSY!

Sarah said...

First off, let's get one thing straight Karla does not have FAT legs. If you're comparing her legs to those of Chanel Iman and other runway models then of course her legs look 'thicker'.
I am especially shocked by the comment made by Satura or Saturn whatever the hell your name is. It's funny how you claim to see Karla in school, why don't you grow some balls and say it her face instead of posting anonymously?
Has it ever crossed your minds that maybe she embraces her legs and cares less about what you think? Obviously she doesn't care about your opinions because I still don't see her covering up her gams, and I admire her for that. You must be a white girl, because you never talk about her other features like her gorgeous lips... 90% of white girls have thin lips like myself. When I come to Karla's blog I don't come to see noodle legs, I come to see a real person that doesn't go without eating just to please bitches like you. Kudos Karla.

And also, I happen to go to her school as well, and if I ever find out who you are, I am going to beat the shit out of you.

karla is entitled to wear what she wants...that's fine. but, as readers there is a fine line between constructive criticism and just plain bashing.

i commented earlier somewhere that the tutu skirt is just too short for her. if i am walking the street and i see her and the material is as flouncy as it looks, i would be a bit concerned. not because of jealousy as some would assume, but to simply place an advise of longer length. i reckon she cannot bend down with that skirt to pick up loose change (and if she can, then that's great. :)), because a small movement that involves bending down can make the whole world see her underwear. god knows if she does wear boyshorts.

fashion is about risk and experimentation. Yes, i agree. But it is also about comfort and natural grace.

And lastly, just because we advise of what we observe in truth without malice or ill intent doesn't mean we're stupid or jealous. She does look fabulous, but she should observe more on what works for her.

just me 2 (or 3) cents worth.

I can´t believe how mean some of those readers are. It makes me so sad. I would be so depressed to read that kind of comments again and again. But I just want to say that you REALLY have a great body! And a great sense of style!

Anonymous said...

i feel like all the mean ppl with nothing else to do are the same person making mean remarks.
but they obviously dont know the meaning of life.
what is the point of being mean to other people? to make them feel bad to make urself feel better about urself?
get a life bitches.
thanks u
love u karla and ur style.
do ur thing girl

amy said...

in defense to some of the people, all they did was gave criticism, again, there is a difference between constructive criticism and plain bashing.

some comments that the readers gave are constructive observation and not out of spite. We can either take it or leave it. Part of being real in fashion..or in anything for that matter, is to take criticism/bashing/comments in general to consideration and it is up to you on how you take it.

if we 'bitches' need to get a life, then sister, i would rather be a one than be living in a pretentious, rose colored bubble, showered with constant praises brouhaha. If some people can't receive criticism well, then you can't have the guts to stomach anything.

Get Real.

chloe seyrighand said...

Hey everyone

Constructive criticism beautiful, at least you readers have a mind and want to tell her its not flattering.. if she doesnt take the criticism its noo ones fault.
the bashing.. really really unnecessary!
-the "white girl" comment.. come on.. its 2010.. there was no reason to bring race into it.. "clearly your a white girl?" my god.i just cant even believe that..i dont care if ur white or black or whatever.. what you were saying was that because the reader must be white that all she is looking at is her "fat" legs (your legs arent fat karla i was just using it as an examle) and what white girls dont look at anything else??
-the comment about beating the shit out of someone.. grow up. your never gonna see this person because clearly they arent giving their real id.. and are your really that immature that violence and threats have to be brought into this?
-lastly, all the "your bitches" and comments like that, well im sorry but by you retaliating back and calling the rude commenters bitches and stuff is just making u look just as bad.

quit stooping to their level hellllo common sense!!

karla, your awesome. take the criticisms or not. but just know your beautiful.

everyone else, enough with the high school bullying.. im pretty sure most readers are older than that..so grow up :)

I really hope you read my comment...

I just wanna say I can't believe you can read the nasty things people say to you. Like you can't wear skirts, lose 15 pounds, etc. To me, you don't look like you could even lose 15 pounds if you tried! You have such a great body... I mean, really, I'm not just saying that. So often you see either someone way too thin or someone overweight, and it's nice to see someone at an obviously healthy weight, with a good toned figure that also has a bit of curve to it. You look awesome and you make me feel good about being into fashion but not being build like a lot of the girls who are into fashion.

I'd love to see the girls who said those things to post pictures of themselves and their wardrobes. You have great style and are beautiful.

Anonymous said...

There has to be a point where a skirt is just too short.
We have breached that threshold.

Anonymous said...

I think the two anonymous above are a little mean but I have to say Karla, you've always executed every piece of your clothes right... but I wouldn't say I like this little Tu-tu skirt on you because it does make your legs look a little big. You wear what suits you and not what's in fashion only? Right? Skirt that are up to your knee suits you a lot more.

The blazer is fantastic but the skirt looks dangerously too short for you, imo. Especially with heels and when you see the outfit from behind in that one pic. Not bashing you for trying different things- not at all. Just an honest opinion!

Also..I understand how people might not like a particular outfit that just isn't their style, but I don't get why so many people feel they can be completely RUDE about it.
