Haha love the non-shress you've got on there. Totally fits the style I'm digging right now! But really, it is WAY to early to be thinking about Christmas! Of course, my family has been known to get a tree mere days before so I don't have exactly the BEST credibility there...
omg! i totally know where you are i live in the area! awsome!!!!!!! since you like thrifting which ones do you go to around here? i love swift and hubba hubba but hubba hubba smells like cigs and its a wrap is pretty awsome for designer jeans i scored g star and dondup jeans the other day for 11 each! practically brand new
I totally agree with you! This knee-lenght dresses have something sensual. But I don't thing they are easy to wear... Each time I have tried, I feel older. But on you, that kind of dresses look great. I love that look!! xx
higgeldy-piggeldy: ha ya... but you have to see the kind of shresses I am talking about! The ones with the pouchy loose top and tight strip of fabric by the buttocks...
carlyjcais: wow! loved that post--great blog :)
WANI!: yes, i will present you with some trashy looks soon LOL
priscilla: yes hubba hubba smells like cigs! and the owner of the shop is so funny too.. never been to “its a wrap”, will stop by next time i go!
p: aw thx! no don’t really alter most of my dresses though!
That length of dress is incredibly flattering. I'd wear the length more often, but because of the killer heels I'd be wearing too, it's not as often as I'd like.
In the christmas spirit here in the UK, cant wait to start opening the (larger than necessary) chocolate advent calender I have!
beautiful! Those shoes are amazing!!! I was wondering if you can tell me which thrift stores you go to in L.A.? I'm from L.A. too and would love to know!
not that it's a bad thing but you look old for being 20 .i think it's the way you dress lately.can you make some experiment?for us your readers?dress in skinny jeans, convewrse and a hoodie :D i wonder what you look like ..
I do not like it one bit. :( Don't get me wrong, you always look stunning, you could be wearing just anything and we'd all compliment you. But in my opinion, you are too young to be wearing dresses like these, I mean, sporting this kind of style. You are a beautiful young woman and I ADORE you fashion sense. So please go back to you old style that we all love. Pretty please? :D I doesn't have to be shresses involved :D
I don't think I've commented before, even though I've been coming to your blog for almost a year. I just wanted to say I love your recent looks. I think your huge vintage collection is what makes you unique. You look great in your vintage knee length dresses and your great smile always light up the photos.
I find these above comments telling you to dress "younger" really bizarre! That is a very classically sexy silhouette! The way it gathers and sort of has a mini train in the back? And I'm totally envious of your amazing gams but seeing them from below the knee is incredibly sexy, too. I love you in converse and jeans too, but these dresses have made me love your style even more. It's more individual somehow. Rock it, lady!
Loove the nude pumps! I've been listening to Chrismtas music on the radio everytime I get in the car since the day before Thanksgiving :) Hope you had a great holiday!
Loove the nude pumps! I've been listening to Chrismtas music on the radio everytime I get in the car since the day before Thanksgiving :) Hope you had a great holiday!
Personally, I don't care for the knee length dresses (not that I love thigh length either!), but I have to say, you pull off everything you wear because of your youth and especially your self confidence...those are very important factors. You look beautiful, as always. :-)
I am with ya on the knee length dresses, I'm feelin' it. They give an old school glamour mistory that I feel no longer exists. Girls are giving it all away for free. How about working for what is above the knee???
I found a great giveaway I want to share www.themishdish.blogspot.com is having a Vineyard Vines giveaway this week. Check it out. I just entered :-)
Starbucks's cup is like the perfect modern touch with the dress ! This is the little something that makes the total outfit really casual & chic ! Really great!
You look stunning & classic in this outfit..me, personally, I am not a fan of knee length dresses..definitely do not look right in them bc my legs are so short..again..u look stunning and i loooove the shoes!
wow you look great very 40s and early 70s, im 24 and find that girls are not swithing it up for a more classy look. i mean my mother dressed like this in 1975 when she was 20, she looked stunning. what i like about your dress sense karla you do everything, mature, young, sexy, funky , boyish, laid back, unique, to me thats you the best blogger out there plus, you got curves. but i love to see how you would make a hoody look, could you try a cool look with that one day? luv ya blog!
I want to say you and I have very similar styles. Sort of. Kind of. Not Really. I definitely mix a little more chola/neon madness into my daily wear, but those vintage dresses...I probably have too many to count. That being said, I also get the "you dress too old thing" and I approach those comments as compliments because at my young age (Just turned 22)I associate my style with the way I'd like to be seen and treated. I want to surround myself with nothing but old, Cigar smoking, Cuban ladies and know it all, Parisian, bread hoarders. I want to soak in the genius that comes with aging. Or maybe I just like it when I hear people say "you look just like your mom". Makes me feel all warm and cuddly inside, since she totally falls into the category of aging fiercely. Either way, nay to looking old and hooray for looking mature, wise and all types of FUERTE! P.s. From Burbank. Used to work at my girlfriends shop Swift. She just got in a bunch of new clothes...I mean, since you're in the area.:)
I love your style! It's so original, unlike what everyone else is wearing these days.. And I love that dress, I think its cool that you can wear different things w/ confidence!
I have a blog that has similar themes of fashion and such, which is why i was thinking, if we could do a link exchange? since i am new to the whole blog thing, i really want to do well at it. so right now im just trying to get people to know about, so if you could help me with that, that would be greatly appreciated! :). comment on my blog if your interested!
You have the best luck finding long vintage dresses! The second picture is absolutely adorable. You've definitely inspired me to want more knee-length flowy dresses like this for the winter.
I love this look--so elegant and sophisticated. I don't agree with the above "old" comments at all. This is totally my style... it's classic, it's timeless. And you are always mixing it up in terms of "younger" looks and more "mature" looks, so keep up the variety--it's what makes your blog the most interesting of them all to follow!!
http://www.carolineginthecity.blogspot.com
PS. I hope the RSS feed sitch gets a quick fix too! It's frustrating not to be notified of your new posts!!
i've never been a fan of knee-length dresses (i think they add about five years to women, no matter how old they are), but your shoes are AMAAAAZING xx neutraltuesday.blogspot.com
the colors in that dress are really good on you but i'd love to see it with a simpler shoe. the straps kinda distract from the beauty of the dress.
do people ever give you weird looks on the street when you're having your picture taken? don't get me wrong, i love that you have different scenery all the time but i can't wonder what passers-by think =)
You must be going through some type of phase right now. Maybe it's just me, but lately you've been dressing so matronly. The busy printed dresses make you look like an 80 year old going to church on Sunday. All you need is the perm and white gloves. I'm getting bored. Bring back the fun!
ahhh that navy blazer ! I've always loved navy but never found any sort of outerwear that pops out at me. There's a coat on forever21 right now that's similar in the navy with gold buttons, but i think the blazer definitely gives the look a less heavy feel. The nude shoes compliment it well too. Very cute look !
whoaaa your heels are just killer, adore your everything in the pics.. dress and blazer both are peerrrrfffeeeccttt.......... you are so lovely Karla, please keep that in mind girl :D
Karla, I love this more polished look! It's Taylor Tomasi-ish. I'm kinda over that whole grunge/homeless look. I will always adore Kate Moss' amazing style but again, I'm into the more polished look and you do it so well! This is refreshing to see when most bloggers are sporting the grunge look. It's inspiring.
I've always loved knee-length dresses! Mainly because they're the ones that looks the best on my body type! I really like your new banner btw. (Atleast I think it's new)
I have become obsessed with this blog!! Ur style is so amazing yet it seems effortless ... I admire the fact that you buy clothes at the Thrift store, I have a very hard time wearing second hand clothes but many Americans like it may be Canada is the problem lool...&& u look latina? Are you?
The colours and print detail of many vintage dresses just can't be replicated these days to the same standard AND still be affordable for us mere mortals.
You look gorgeous from the top of your head to the tips of those slammin' shoes! Knee length dresses are so feminine and classy - a girl can be classy without showing the assy! I'm ecstatic that you're back! Hope you had a lovely holiday! http://girlwhimsy.blogspot.com
i've been looking for the perfect nude pump! all the ones i've found so far, the heel height is too short (i like 'em high, like you!), but those look purrrrrrfect :)
Your dress sense is elegant perfection, something anyone should aspire too - girls should be dressing like this but they dont usually have the resources or the eye to find this kind of style in vintage/secondhand stores. You compliment your great figure fantastically - you look expensive too! So much class. This dress is one of my favourites, the collar is sweet. Another great job. Zanita x
Why not endorse Starbucks? It's only right [and might I add EXTREMELY delicious?]. Btw, love the hair, outfit, and new/old [I don't recall seeing it] graphic header for your blog. http://www.thegreygoddess.blogspot.com/
I agree with u on the knee length! but on days when I cant take high heels, shorts and minis are the only way i have legs! xxx ps ohmygodimsoexcitedaboutchristmas
i thought you'd gone MIA, cos according to my dashboard you hadnt posted since start of november! then today dashboard told me you'd updated like ten times in one day! I see my dashboard is the one that went MIA! cos uve updated loads! Having to catch up on all posts since Annannann! :) hope you had great Thanksgiving! xx magpie-girl.blogspot.com
I've been reading your blog for a while and I wanted to say that I really enjoy it. I like the knee length dresses in particular. They are stylish, easy to wear, and I've found a few in thrift stores. Though, I don't know how you walk in those heels. Two inches is my limit, unless it's a very special occasion, and I'm sitting for most of it.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with everyone else here...the knee-length dress does not look good on you at all imho, makes you look out of proportion. The first photo shows this the most clearly: your legs look incredibly short and stumpy as they emerge from the dress so far down, and the heels do nothing to help.
BUT, this is probably the first time I've ever thought this in all the time I've been reading your blog. Generally, I think you play with proportions really well!
Ha love the title of this blog post. I am so jealous the weather looks beautiful! I really like the jacket and earrings. Always look forward to reading your blog. =]
this dress is gorgeous, i love the rich vibrant print! i totally respect your chic, mature style- im sure it says a lot about your personality and success, rock on lovely! and yeees, the nude heel def. lengthen your gams ;)

This particular dress is quite unique!
And with nudeish heels? divinity.
do you alter the dresses after you purchase them? they seem to fit you perfectly.
I love the pumps !!!
And I'm also a big fan of dresses. I think they bring out the romance lacking in the world today.. :P

Well the unintentional endorsement had an effect on me because I REALLY want Starbucks! lol.
you look very classy and ladylike, i love it :)
i've been looking for the perfect nude pump! all the ones i've found so far, the heel height is too short (i like 'em high, like you!), but those look purrrrrrfect :)
I'm in love with your shoes.

Karla you always look fabulous.
the colors in that dress are really great on you!
I think a sign of maturity is the realization that one doesn't have to be flashing ass to look sexy in a dress.
That jacket is incredibly pretty. Love all your photos. :)

Shresses are out! Good on you for advocating knee length dresses, they look fabulous on you.

yumm starbucks is great. love the dress and jacket!
this is Karla i love
love the whole look!
you're so classy.
Why do bloggers think it looks good to stand pigeon-toed all the time?? Not to mention it's very bad for your knees
You look gorgeous, the blazer completes the whole outfit...
heels heels heels heels :D
Crazy about your shoes... and your jacket!
Love from Paris.
i need your blazer, it's just perfect

Ha love the title of this blog post. I am so jealous the weather looks beautiful! I really like the jacket and earrings.
Always look forward to reading your blog. =]
love the length of your dress...you don't always have to show a lot of leg...although that's always more fun lol...
