Windy Mindy

laff3-1.jpg picture by stylebook18laff7-1.jpg picture by stylebook18laff1-1.jpg picture by stylebook18

Although I felt really overdressed while at Target searching for Sex and the City disc set, I realized that wearing heels to the market or donning a super frilly dress to the post office makes me to feel like I can perform to the best of my capabilities.

Some readers have asked me "Do you ever just want to wear sweats?"... the answer is actually no. As vain as this may sound, I enjoy prancing in platforms around my suburban neighborhood, even if my feet are kind of in pain. It's all for the sake of "feeling good"... and when I feel good, I do good.

Wearing vintage tan wool blazer, Kain white pocket tee, Dixie navy thin-striped pants, Bebe burnt orange heels, and vintage multi-hoop earrings

Aw, I love dressing up to "feel good", too! I always think that when I think about getting older - I want to keep dressing nicely because it makes me feel good about myself :-)

karla- your legs would do best without anything around the ankle. because they are muscular and shorter it would do you wonders to keep your ankles open! :)

i totally agree! this week i've been lazy, not wearing makeup (trying to get my skin in tip top shape for prom), lazy clothes, and i've felt so down and lame. clothes make me feel better, even if no one appreciates them. and target is SO a worthy occasion! love target!

i agree that if you feel good you do good but it's seems like you "prance in platforms around your suburban neighborhood"/syndicate your looks on the web for validation and attention.

your blog stinks of narcissism and i hope girls don't look up to you for parading obsessive shopping habits, blatant insecurities and poor grammar on the web. has society really boiled down to girls seeking validation through materialism from strangers on the www?

you are a beautiful girl and well dressed but sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture.

I dig those pants, too.

I actually don't wear sweats either. I think they are so unattractive. Sure the yoga pant is great for working out but even just lounging around the house I usually just slip on my AA thick knit leggings.

Okay so I see that everybody loves these Kain pocket tee's so a few weeks ago I found one and tried it on and honestly, I don't think it is work the $80. I found the same thing, same sheer quality, same fabric, same fit, at F21 for a 90% less. STILL THINK YOU'RE FABULOUS THOUGH!

AND KEEP UP THE EXPIERMENTATIONS WITH FABRICS, PRINTS, AND FITS. IT'S NICE TO SEE SOMEONE MIX AND MATCH LIKE THAT.

I DON'T think this blog "stinks of narcissism" as Anon 6:22 bluntly stated. I just think Karla like alot of girls; likes to look and feel good, what is the problem with that?

Anon also mentioned Karlas "poor grammar" - well correct me if I'm wrong, I don't see anywhere on this blog where it says she aims to write to perfection? And I'm sure people don't come on here looking for tips on thier next English essay.

People honestly need to lighten up nowadays, blogs are for fun and for like minded people to share thier opinions and thoughts on a certain topic. Karla's chosen topic being fashion: so obviously she is going to be talking about
clothes, shopping, heels etc.

If you don't like the chosen topic or what she chooses to post, its simple: Don't visit the blog.

Nehoos love what you're wearing here Karla, it looks pretty damn cool :)

dami - you call this fashion? i call this the karla show. it's cool that she does this with her blog but i agree with the other comments, no matter how you slice it this is self indulged, fashion or not, and there is something very off putting about it.

phi s t y l e said...

i totally agree with you. i don't dress up for anyone else but myself. putting together an outfit and feeling good about myself is what makes my day (and gets me through the day). when i don't feel put together, i feel like i can't get anything done!

whatever "put together" means to each individual person varies - it can mean sweats, or it can mean platform heels. whichever you choose, work it, girl.

Anonymous said...

and - yes dami. if you are going to have a website with a ton of viewers you absolutely should have decent grammar and sound articulate. especially when you have the successful exposure karla has. some hobbies outside of shopping and chai lattes would be nice too!

dear readers, GROW UP!

why are anonymous posts a-ok when they are kissing karla's ass but NOT ok when they are criticising or taking issue with something she posts? GET OVER IT! the internet provides people the opportunity to be anonymous - if you can't handle it then get off the web!

i agree with the person who thinks this blog is narcissistic and vapid. it's great to be into fashion and outfits, but this blog DOES involve writing and Karla, you are a terrible writer! it's embarrassing! your grammar is pathetic and the actual content ... well, you're basically at the infantile level of personality development.

fashion blogs can be really interesting, especially if they are focused on FASHION + DESIGN + IDEAS but you need to focus less on yourself and more on the world around you. it's really boring to read about you shopping at target or that the people at starbucks know you by name. please get sopme imagination and creativity or just have a photo blog, that is ok too.

and PLEASE stop posing with your one arm up, it looks really weird and insecure and BAD.

Anonymous said...

I just want to say that I absolutely ADORE the blazer you are wearing in this photo!!!

Also, to the person who was whining about how she has no hobbies outside of shopping and drinking chai lattes, you should probably remember that this is a fashion blog that allows here to talk about clothes and shopping and chail lattes. If she were to start posting about her opinions on Dante's Inferno or something like that it would be completely out of place on this type of blog. I think you forget that this is a blog on a specific topic, not a portrait of every tiny detail of her life, and therefore it makes sense that it would be limited to certain topics. I mean, for all we know she plays the violin and builds 6 feet tall sculptures out of Popsicle sticks while hanging upside down and reciting lines from Plato's Republic, but if she were doing that we wouldn't here about it here because its not the right place.

Hey just a follower here all the way from Fiji and I must say kudos to Dani for putting it into perspective :). I totally agree with your view here i.e. dress good feel good (or something to that effect), so much so that this is the first time I'm actually leaving a comment;P

It's partly because you wrote exactly what I felt today! I'm currently studying for my Law degree and at the same time working as a paralegal in a local law firm (and I'm only 22), and as you can figure most people in this line of work always dress in a drabby cloned 'corporate' getup, BORING!!!!...yawwwnnnn.

I know I get looks when I step into the elevator and I'm wearing a bright red high waisted skirt, victorian-inspired white vintage blouse and big brown animal print hoops (and im 5'10 and love to rock heels!;D), this being one of my many get-ups and HELL YEAH you feel like you can pretty much get anything done!

This morning I went to sleep @ 4 and woke up @ 6 (yes just 2 hours of sleep!!) TRYING to do a paper I have due today, and even though I was as tired as hell,I looked into my closet to get out my outfit for the day and got ready for work.

I tell you it was almost an instant effect...I couldn't help but feel that I could and WOULD get all my shit done today and still look great at the end of it all!!:P

Haha, oh god didn't mean to write you a whole essay!

Cheers to Likemindedness!:D

I don't understand where in this blog she shows that she doesn't care about others. This blog is about her and I'm sure she didn't write it in order to make others happy. I don't see how's she hurting the enviroment nor do I see how she's exploiting animals. Maybe YOU should grow up and quit hating!!

Not flattering at all. Sorry. Your figure is too cute to dress it like this.

"Lily" may have a point. If we stop dieting, throw away our makeup, and sit around reading Shakespeare all day, we can pretty much write off over-population. It ain't gonna happen.

You look fabulous!

Also - in regards to wearing platforms all the time... don't your feet hurt in them? Or do you find them to be comfortable?

I know I certainly can't wear my favorite heels for longer than a few hours!

those heels rock!

So Karla, why don't you tell us about all this good you've been doing in your platforms. Frankly, I haven't heard about anything that you do besides prance around and shop.

Wowwow. Such a controversial entry we have here.

This look is different and wouldn't work normally, but what works often depends on the person wearing it and you make this work.

The neon orange and yellow nails are a nice accent to all the neutrals.

My nail polish is called “Tropical Temptation” by Revlon and the one on my toes is OPI’s “Lemonade Stand by Your Man”.

stephanie: I was born here in Cali, my mom is from Mexico and my dad is from El Salvador.

putri erdisa: Yes I do read them! Sometimes I just can’t answer them all, but know that I read them and they all make me laugh/smile... stopping by your blog right now!

fashionlauncher: You’re my girl!!!

Lolita: Never heard of it, I’ll google it- thanks for stopping by :)

TO ALL THE STUPID-MEAN ANON:

SINCE WHEN DID KARLA CLAIM SHE WAS THE NEXT MOTHER THERESA?? SHE WILL ALWAYS TALK ABOUT FASHION (IT IS A FASHION BLOG, DUH) NOR DID SHE EVER CLAIM SHE HAD A PhD in LANGUAGE ARTS, NOR SHE WANTED TO SAVE THE FREAKIN ANIMALS (WHICH I TRULY LOVE). I SUGGEST YOU (CAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE ANON IS THE SAME PERSON WRITING OVER AND OVER) GO VISIT SAVETHEWHALES.COM OR ENGLISHFORDUMMIES.COM AND NOT KARLASCLOSET

THE MEAN PEOPLE ACTUALLY MAKE U LOOK CLASSY KARLA, CAUSE YOU STILL LET THEM POST THEIR COMMENTS.. LOVE UR BLOG!!!!!!

Karla! I am the same way. I own only one pair of sweats, and they're more like leggings anyway, for Yoga. I love wearing heels. Better to be overdressed than underdressed. gorgeous photos!

Stop this circus, all of you. If Karla has made this whole blog thing her own big thing and she's turning to be the next fashion it-girl, why not/what's your problem? She's certainly good at it! Since the moment she realized the blog could go far, why wouldn't she make an effort to continue, keeping it as fashionable as posible?
Truth is, having all these people snooping around your blog, like, everyday and all that, has turn you famous, at least on the web world. You guys don't understand that w/ all those mean comments, the only thing u can get is turning her even more well-known!
:) Anyways, of course there are things that could be improved but nobody's perfect and she never claim to be perfect. Plus - if she has enough money to spend on these absurd amounts of clothing, then why not, if she wants to? - I bet 90% of you would do the same, or else u wouldnt be posting comments here. Internet's a big damn ego/self-centred show, especially if we're talking about fashion blogs and so on, and so on.
But, then what? Be happy guys, find your own thing just like she did.

By the way, great outfit Karla ;)

I love fashion, trends, runway...and I truly believe that someone's style and way of dressing it's a deep and individual expression of who you are. Besides, fashion is related to cinema, literature and art in general. It's a creativity process that can not simply be linked to narcissism habits.

About Karla's Closet...I'm not a fan of your style, although I liked the outfittes you wore while you were in Europe.
And the person who wrote about your legs being a size 14 is obvisouly a woman, a straight one.

Anyway, keep up with your blog cause all theese comments only show how famous you became.

Rosa said...

FOR ALL YOU ANONYMOUS USERS:
If you don't like Karla & think she's narcissistic, or whatever, then DON'T READ HER BLOG. Her blog is all about fashion, after all. You all are pathetic & probably jealous of her. It's sad that you would take time out of your day to visit the website of someone you despise, just to leave a nasty comment. Assholes. Find something better to do. This is a fashion blog, after all, what do you expect her to talk about?

That last picture? Just perfect!

Anonymous said...

you are a beautiful girl and well dressed but sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture.

Please look at the "bigger picture" yourself and go straight to Hell! Don't pass Go! Don't collect 200.00.
This post smacks of jealously and a little obsession which I find not only rude, but a little creepy!
