Welcome back. What an adventure. Love your shoes and dress. Can you breathe in that corset? Reminds me of scene from Pirate's of Carribean and Kiera Nightly's character faints and falls in the water b/c of corset. LOL

the dress is really stunning!
but ive wonder.. is it okay to wear it with corset in the beach??

wow that is totally off the hook!
in the best possible way, of course!

at first glance, the corset looked like the azzedine alaia belt that mko often wears!

Please tell me that this was a beach turned into some sort of Milan Fashion Week stage. On a level of practicality, wearing this to a beach may not be best move HOWEVER, I LOVE the way everything juxtaposes. First, the outfit: you pair a feminine full body dress with a very structured, leather, promiscuous lace-up corset. Then the heels, also very architectural with the platform, the cutouts, patent leather, etc. Then, combine this with the scenery which is beachy, cool and relaxed. This is the sort of concept we always see in Vogue. It show your artistry and style in one.

dress + plattforms = superb! but the corset??? sorry, but here in berlin you only see hookers wearing corsets over everything. it's like their trademark - corsets even over big puffy winterjackets! so in my eyes this is just a no-go!

A flowered sundress with a corset in the beach? Something doesn't work here, Karla...

That gorgeous dress would look very nice without that corset. Or the corset would look beautiful with another outfit, but def. not with that dress.

And italian food is very healthy, much more than american fast food. Maybe you wanted to say that you were sick of eating so much pizza, I don't know. I though you would love Europe, and I don't think you really did. Maybe next time!

I hoped you would keep up the european classy spirit a little longer, too. You looked so good when you dressed not so eccentric!

xoxo,

Emma

Cad said...

Wow, so many haters about the Italian food thing...American food isn't just McD's. And I'm not a patriotic American sticking up for the cuisine either, I'm not even from the states. So don't go making ignorant assumptions, please :) But anyhow, Karla, you look fantastic. Wish I could pull off something like this!

Common sense for the beach, perhaps not. But this is fashion, so have fun! Besides, common sense is for the unimaginative.

Anonymous said...

Karls,
this looks like it took you hours to put together, and, sorry to say but the outfit isn't cool at all. I appreciate you putting this blog up and everything, and some of your outfits are really nice, but...unfortunately you don't have that chic effortless style. Look at the models street style pictures, they're so effortless, yet so stylish. I think that is what you have to work for to achieve.

Hope it works out!

PHILlina Sun said...

"effortless" is banal! go, Karla! drama yes, pleasure yes. I see the same "effortless" outfit all the time, hell, I wear "effortless" outfits because I'm running out the door and I have no time for play and fun, and that's why I love looking at this blog because Karla's having fun, it's for us to have fun and play along as well, an escapism from all those banal effortless outfits models ad nauseum wear.

most of the time, i think your style is amazing, and i used to think that you could put on a potato sack and rock it - until i saw this. that dress looks like someone vomitted dark flowery ruffles on you, and then you decided you'd take women a few steps backwards and throw on a corset. hate it.
