Wow, I didn't think what was meant as a joke would cause such a stir. I come from a family that's constantly joking around, we're always making fun of each other and none us are sensitive nor do we ever take any of it personal. I never meant to hurt anyone's feelings... I seem to forget my sarcasm doesn't translate well on the internet. So if I offended anyone, I apologize.
Anyway, I'm so proud of myself for managing to trot across uneven cobblestone grounds in five-inchers without twisting an ankle. It kind of made me feel like I won't be needing those high-top converse or triple-buckle boots for my European vacation after all!

Karla, everyone is going to have an opinion no matter how or who you are. Do you and don't apologize for it. ;)
And you look lovely as always.
I love the first picture where the wind is playing with your dress - so pretty!
And about your ability to walk in heels; you succeed where I inevitably fail :(
Amazing! Love the bag and the shoes, and the dress is so beautiful... :)

I agree with Alicia. You can't please everyone.
But anyway, I love this black and white combo with your red painted nails. Very nice!
People just take things way to seriously sometimes. I dont think you need to apologize for a joke.
Anywayss I love these photos, the water and dress are gorgeous. And Im always quite impressed by anyone who can walk on cobblestone.
The other day I was walking on cobblestone in like, maybe 1 inch wedges, and I went over on my heel. I was like.. trust me to make even such a thing possible.. what would I do when actually wearing a heel? The answer.. most likely seriously injure my ankle =\
=)

you remind me of Frankie from the saturdays, both of you are stunning.

simply beautiful. i have a good friend who shortened a vintage wedding dress to cocktail length for her formal and it looked amazing aswell. the detailing on the sleeves and waist is so pretty.

I'm so amazed at all those Anonynomous comments because she/he seriously have way too much time on their hands. Wow.

Italy has much worse cobblestones, it has real cracks and heels get stuck in them easially. I had a hard time when I was there. It's possible but you really have to watch where you walk when you are on that type of ground. I love your hair! I used your picture as inspiration on a haircut I just did on a friend. You, the glamouri and Kate L. have the best hair now!
I love your dress, it's really cool that was a wedding dress first!! With wedges is it easy to walk on cobblestones.
XX
You look absolutely stunning. Loving the dress.
Do you mind linking? ;)
You shouldn't have to apologize for reacting to a person who intended to insult you in front of the public. That's on them.
oh how i adorrreee that dress !
Wow the first pic is like a dream! Lovely outfit :)
why do people leave horrible comments? i think you look great in anything! i like how you wear anything and pull it off because of your confidence!
x
ooh this is gorgeous. I do believe they are the most even of uneven cobblestones, do pack converses as they are quite compact. x
honey you are godamn beautiful!!
u look beautiful karla, as always :)

You should wear white more often, it looks amazing on you!
Oh, how creative you are ! The dress looks fantastic, and I love that bag, too. :)
you're Lukin so Gorgeous Amazing ..
Great look and your location is beautiful :)
that dress is so amazing, i love it
and gorgeous photos! (:
Wow, you altered the dress really well. I like this simple combination very much. Those cobblestones don't look as bad as the european ones do though =P

I really love your shoes darling! And your photos are fantastic!

I don't think the fact that your family tease each other has much bearing on what you say to total strangers. How can that comment possibly understood as a joke outside of intimate friends or family? Especially when it is said on the defensive and designed to hurt.
A "goofy personality" is a pretty weak excuse for attacking someone's appearance. If this girl that laughed at you put it down to her "goofy personality", would you feel any less offended?
I admit that if pressed for a comeback I'd reach for the nearest insult at hand but if I'd said what you did I wouldn't be proud of it, and I wouldn't revel in my repartee by broadcasting it over the internet.
Karla, you are young and have a varying but excellent taste in clothes - this post is testament to that, because this dress is both beautiful and inventive - but tact is worth exercising. It signifies refinement and a certain sophistication. Don't confine these qualities to your style alone.
“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” -- Audrey Hepburn
Great idea of wearing wedding dress1You look wonderful!better than ever!
Looking great as always :)
your name is always attach with the word SOPHISTICATED, karla!
that's cool... still, you can pull though it's a wedding dress.

the dress is awsome!! and you look beautiful on first pic! =)
I like the last picture. It's the most original picture of yourself of your whole blog.
I feel you on the cobblestone! Its like that in Old Montreal, of course where Fashion Week is held, not so great on the heels! lol
Love that you turned a vintage wedding dress into a mini, its beautiful!

OMgsh that used to be wedding dress?!
I love ur style, and i totally relate, i so cannot get enough of black and white in my wardrobe!
I can't believe u can walk in such heels all day. Applause for that!!!
lastly, hun, this is YOUR blog, you have every right to say what u want when u want...
Gosh everyone hates being laughed at, its not like WE don't automatically thing SLIGHTLY unpleasant things about such haters.
hah! Love your style !
You are so inventive. I really love what you created from the wedding dress!
This is my first time to ever comment, I've been lurking for a few months now. Your style is so fierce, just thought it needed to be said.
and also, I don't see how anyone would take the last post offensively. The lady laughed at you and you called her on it and made her look stupid. She deserved it.
Beautiful.
The dress is fantastic!
ok i think i would have said yuck if i saw this wedding dress hanging in a vintage store. love how you restored it and not make it look tacky at all.
Love the dress! Who thought a wedding dress could be worn in the street?! :)
Your outfit is so beautiful, people should wear white more!

Hey Karla
I have blogged you in your mini - such a great idea - hard to do and it took a good eye to find a piece that would actually work and not look atrocious!
I am sure my readers will love it too! I might just have to get one of my reconstructed vintage designers at my vintage shop to steal the concept ;-)

didn't knew that wedding dresses could be worn outside the big day... and you paired it perfectly with the tights which gives it a casual looks... just love how you pose everytime with different outfit..cheers

LOVELY, LOVELY, LOVELY PICS YOU LOOKS FABULOUSE, KISSES FROM BARCELONA KARLA
Beautiful blog...
You're gorgeous:]
See that's the whole blogging world's problem- the wicked commentators :D No worries, you still have the most gorgeous pics on your blog! The wedding dress is fantastic!
you are one gorgeous person katla. the dress looks awesome plus the bag. fucken hell perfectness!
Annonymous @ 5:11 couldn't have put it better myself
beautiful dress Karla!
where did you wear this?
aaaand....Closet tour, yes yes!!
Oh yeah you totally proved that you're Mother Teresa after all. Ah silly us thinking that disrespecting others is something you'd ever do... Now that you've crossed that line so bravely, what's next? Making fun of retarded people? Ah can't wait for the day you tell us an anectode about that.
Simply beautiful. It is very rare when you can say a person is beautiful-- not oh thats a nice dress or your makeup is pretty...when the whole pciture is just beautiful :)
everyone judges people whether they admit to it or not. i don't know why people are taking it so personal. there isn't one person who goes through life without judging. and natasha, just as you think karla was so very disrespectful to the fat ass, you're being disrespectful leaving a completely unnecessary comment. no one is mother theresa, and i guarantee you you're no mother teresa either even if you respect all humanity.
that first piccie is pure heaven! gorgeous dress.
I really like your outfit and these pictures and you are so pretty!
Love this look!! And beautiful background!!
If you want to sell that MJ bag...I would love to buy it!!
Let me know!!

This outfit rocks my world.
The first shot is perfection. What a cool transformation of a wedding dress; I love it!
Your ruffle dress below looks like what Nicole Richie wore at the Kitson launch of the house of harlow collection. Pretty cool :)
wow.. rome and florence? sounds cool. yeah before you go to rome and florence would you please be so kind as to post something about your closet? i'd LOVE to see it :D
This looks great.
You look lovely : )
perfect dress (L)
I can't stop myself from saying that, I am truly in love with you and your style ;))
you look gorgeous as always - I cant believe that used to be a wedding dress!
love the background of these photos too :)

That dress is great! Much more summer than wedding here ;)

wow what an amazing way to reinvent a vintage wedding dress!
Wait...I thought jokes were supposed to be funny?
Hey what do you wear when you go thrifting? Isnt it important to dress more quiet when you do? I'm always afraid I'll be jumped lol
No need to apologize - I myself have had a double-chin and if I was bitchy enough to laugh at someone's outfit, I would totally deserve the comment!!!
Love this look, black and white is so easy, especially with the sea blue behind you!

it´s always sunny in california, i wanna live there, too! poor me =( nice outfit, i like the dress
All those catty idiots commenting on how Karla "shouldn't" wear white leggings can go suck themselves.
If I had gorgeous legs like hers I wouldn't hide them behind black leggings or black pants all my life either. Just because some dumbasses think only 00 twig-leg girls can wear light colors doesn't mean she can't show off and be proud of her awesome bod.
hey, there is no nid to apologize ger. there is nothing wrong in directing back at the ger when she clearly had no manners to call he rown in de first place. if i were u i would have done de same. and seriously, this is ur blog. u have de right to say wadever u wan and u dont owe any explanation to anyone. u go girl. at least u dress differently and not end up like every single one on de streets. it would be more exciting if everyone is like u.
Hi Karla :)
That vintage wedding dress made into a mini is lovely!
You look fabulous!

Karla You look Fabulous...
nothing wrong with making fun of someone who was making fun of you even if it was just a laugh!!!!
if that was me i would have made a scene so you handled the situation beautifully
SO KARLA YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT!!!!
Your goofy personality is the reason I am reading this blog. You are hilarious and I keep laughing my ass off about some things you write. So don't take those people too serious.
Maria
Love it, looks so good on you!
I like your shoes, very nice. The dress is very original :-D
Hummm... wedding dress into an everyday dress this gives me to much to think about now I'm going to go on the hunt. By the way I love the dress if you couldn't tell. <3
wow, I LOVE that dress! It's so beautiful! The shoes are very cool too.
you look so angelic and edgy at the same time. So beautiful!
I LOVE your style. i love every outfit u post! I swear i've never seen anyone have a style like you and i lOVE LVOVE LOVE IT! I keep thinking if i didnt live in cooldd Norway where noone wear heels, i would seriously have a style that looks like yours. I cant wait to move to a warmer and more fashionable country and dress like more like u..
xoxo
That dress is gourgeous!
xx
It really makes me mad how some people can sit there and call you a bad person for simply defending yourself. In actuality, I'm sure everyone else would do the same thing. I have no problem admitting I would have said the same exact thing.
As far as your blog/clothes, thanks so much for inspiring me and my wardrobe.
-Kait
nice outfit! i JUSt started a blog. please check it out. first taste :]
it always amazes me how you can make something as simple as stockings look so incredibly sexy.
ps. very big of you to apologize to those who might have been offended instead of getting counter-offended at all of the nasty things they posted.
pss. you may still want to consider those high-top converse or triple-buckle boots for Florence and Rome if you value your heels because cobblestone absolutely RUINS the heel of ...well, heels.
oh yeah its at http://glitterandtea.blogspot.com/ i knew i forgot something...
I love this outfit. :-)
ur hair cut seriously suits u !! looks like rihanna's..
People are nuts! Everyone makes fun of other people. Saying someone has cheese in her teeth isn't mean. Who are these people? The fun police?
cute outfit by the way!
Because of you, Karla...I now only shop for vintage dresses and am currently teaching myself to alter to my own body...
I love this dress and I'm going to piggy back on this idea and have my own vintage wedding dress made into something I can wear to work...
Thank you!
that dress is pure genius. the length is so flattering on you.
how do you do it to have so many comments??!! it's amazing!! hahahaha ;)
Congratulations for your blog, it's unique!
i follow you for a long time, but hardlyever left comments...
Sorry my english.... ;) i'm spanish. I hope you understandme

Sweety you know there too much jealous people over here, you don't have to apologize. you are who you are and that's why we love you :)
you're stunning as always. amazing dress!
-A.
I love the flowy white dress, it's very ethereal looking!
I suggest wearing flats once in a while because wearing high heels all the time can do major damage to your back, knees, and feet in the future.
Are you going to Europe over Spring Break?
the dress is amazing, the photos are beautiful...love!!!
you look beautiful. such a rad dress.
i cannot believe that it's a wedding dress! totally awesome job Karla!
sure, everyone makes fun of other people, but instead of clearing up the implications of your past post, Karla, this post confuses it. if you never "take any name-calling personal" then why feel the need to say anything to her at all. you said what you said, and that's fine with me. i'm here for fashion inspiration. but your justification doesn't make sense. this isn't the first time you documented a rather snobby response to someone that didn't like what you were wearing.
i think that because a lot of people really look up to you, that is why they are making a big deal about your statement. some people just have too high of standards for you i guess? i dont really know. i except your imperfectness though, and still love you/your blog all the same.
STUNNING!!
Gorgeous. Love the dress and location... The skirt shape is AMAZING! Kudos for the comment on the joke. Not to worry.

Anon, if you've read her comments in posts from a while ago, she's never ever shown that she has been offended by the rude comments people have made in the past. It makes sense now, her family has allowed her to develop a thick skin. She said something about the girl simply because she felt like it. There doesn't have to be a reason for everything!
I love your hair but we only ever see one side and the front of it - could we perhaps see 360degrees?
Oh wow Karla, this must be one of your best looks ever! And the photos are stunning, esp the first one.
Karla, you are a beautiful girl and I love your blog and your style. I just wish you had the confidence to not feel the need to fire a cruel "comeback" at some girl who doesn't appreciate your style. Rock it out, and when you hear a snicker you know you're really looking good.

i agree with this comment,
you are shallow.
God I love this look. You look really pretty in this dress.
Hey hun...
Perhaps it would be good to clear the clutter by culling all the fiery to-and-fro comments about the comeback on the previous post. It's just departing from the fact that your fashion style blog is a fashion style blog, and not a personality fault-picking broadcast.
That said, I think you did a wonderful job with shortening the dress (if you did it yourself), otherwise it looks great on you anyway. I think keeping the jewelry to a minimum was a fab idea, it lets the dress to all the talking. :) Minis really suit you!
Much love from NZ... xx
that dress!!! what.a.dream!
Oh oh when are you going to Rome? I think you can do anything in sky high heels Karla, you're a super woman when it comes to heels.
Hope youre doing well!! :D

I'd love to see the before version of the dress.

There was a post a while ago where Karla said something to the effect of why should she accept criticism on her outfits from a girl who wears Uggs. I'm not going to look it up & quote it, but I'm pretty sure it was along those lines. Karla is entitled to her opinion, but this, like yesterday's post, seemed snobby, whether she was offended or not. That's what I meant. I'm not here to argue, I'm just pointing out that I can understand why people felt it was a rude thing to say. I love her blog too, which is why I have pointed out that the comment was insensitive.
Okay, that aside, this is a nice dress. Yes, I am paying attention to the fashion. ;P
I can't believe that's a wedding dress! It's a pretty darn incredible wedding dress. You are genius when it comes to vintage finds.
You look gorgeous in these pics, Karla! Love them, and that dress really compliments your shape.
PS. The third image is my FAVORITE. :-)
love that dress and there's no need to apologize
I like the contrast of the light, flowy dress with dark stockings. I also liked how you acknowledged the controversy on your blog..so many people ignore it. although I commented that I thought the comeback was funny :-) there is too much pressure on fashion bloggers to be perfect!
that first picture is just nuts, in a totally amazing way.
That was a wedding dress? really? Gorgeous!!!!
You're apologizing because you see that people were offended and you don't want to lose your readers or reputation but you don't apologize for your actions, what you said, and assumptions. You assumed incorrectly that the girl would understand your joke and you assumed incorrectly that we would as well. I just don't understand why people find it necessary to make fun of other people's sizes as their only way of come backs or whatever.
Why are ALL your dresses SO short. There is a concept of leaving things to the imagination. This was once long, or I assume it was because it was a wedding dress, so you had the option of not making it so mini.
Wonderful dress! And anonymous7:51, she doesn't have to apologize in the first place!!! You don't need to understand why she used the triple chin thing as her come back. Get out of her blog and you will not be affected by anything she says or does. Simple as that.
Oh don't apologize. This is YOUR blog afterall. I personally thought it was funny and I like that you show off your personality. Better yet I like that you have one. And yeah I'm pretty sure it was the same few anons posting LOL.
Moving on... That first picture is too gorgeous. Your side profile is unreal. Big props to the photog! And I love this outfit. Would've never guessed that it used to be a wedding dress.
Well I would have to say that yesterday you looked drop dead gorgeous!!! Especially even in person you are even more beautiful! I didn't even know that this dress was a wedding dress. Now it makes me love the dress even more baby! you are so talented! And simply amazing!!!
Ps. You didn't fall on the cobblestone because you were holding onto my arm. :)
I love your dress, it's spectacular, so lovely and wispy, especially the shoulder details. To the anonymous commenters who complain about the length of your dress or attitude- if they don't have the guts to take credit for thier words, their words don't carry much value.
-indigo
Such a lie. I completely understand why you would make such a comeback but there was no need to write about it on your blog...but since you did you should have expected such strong reactions and not come up with such a lame excuse for your behaviour.
your fat
ooo will you please respond and tell us all where you found this gorgeous vintage dress?
am i just not looking hard enough?
I L-O-V-E everything about this!!
totally idolize your creativeness.
You look fantastic. This is seriously one of my favourite posts of yours. The setting is lovely as well, and really brings out the creamy ivory of your vintage dress. Great job on transforming it.
brilliant idea - vintage wedding dress made into mini! you're so original, I LOVE IT! and i love how the wind whisks the flowy material at the back. hot pic.
stunning as always.
stop pouting your lips. only makes itu more unflattering.
A wedding dress??! How inventive. I love it!!
Gosh, people please move on!
@Anonymous 03-09-09 8:30 PM
She can write about her toilet routine if she wanted to. Its HER blog and she isn't obligated to please EVERYBODY.
If you're triple chinned and cried yourself to sleep because of the last entry you really should spare yourself the embarrassment and leave her alone.
I love watching [or reading rather] you glide blithely over insecure and most probably weight challenged females, who are clearly lashing out at the girl with the fabulous dress.
I challenge the sour, illiterate anonymous creature to grow a pair and stop hiding, so I can slowly but surely crush her spirit.
All this hate really doesn't make sense to me.
Anywaysss, today's outfit is really nice and I LOVE those platforms! :)
Yep, as someone pointed out our cobblestone in Italy is much worse than that, but I'm sure you can make it! (Victoria B. did it, right? so why not..?!) ;)

Don't worry I wasn't offended, I probably would have said something equally amusing!
very talented to have the vision to turn a vintage wedding gown into a mini.
i once cut one off and made it a top... and wore it with high waisted acid wash jeans... was the perfect outfit.
im still looking for some bebe-esk black platform pumps! grr

How can you afford all your georges clothes? I mean since your a full time student? I love your blog and I think you are so fashionable..Love it!!

you totally rock that dress! you know you remind me of the chick in the late 80s movie called 'some kind of wonderful', but of course a more feminine version of her. super cute
this dress is so fab and i love it even more since it is a vintage wedding dress!! love the insane ruffles in the last post as well! u look great in all these pics!!

I love that you actually went ahead and shortened a wedding dress. I've thought about doing it a fair few times but laziness usually pulls me out of that dream ;)
Looking fabulous here!
Very spring, I love it! Whithe an black always a good combination.
I LOVE that purse. It's adorable.
ure so chic !
I'm only anonymous because I don't feel comfortable putting my name out amidst all of the contraversy.. but I just wanted to everybody that it is not up to us to judge. I'm sure half of us would do the same thing in that situation. Regardless, I am here to read a very well-written blog, and appreciate some amazing style, and that's what everyone else is here for as well - Not to condemn a person for what you may or may not feel is a mistake, insult somebody who goes out of her way to update us not only on her life, but on her amazing fashion sense, and judge where I have no place.
Your dress is beautiful as always Karla, and I hope that all of this clears up soon.
Im from the UK and dont normally comment, but always take a peak at your blog when i get the chance! This photograph really captured me, the outfit is so beautifully pieced together,
Your style is second-to none, and the photography is also stunning!
What an adorable dress! makes me want to run to the weddingdress store:)
I love walking on high heels two, and really rome is quite as bad as those stones you walk at now:)
Guapissssima!! :-)
Laura,
Not to add fuel to the fire but...outright laughing at someone's outfit is NOT "fashion critiscm." It's rude and deserved a comeback, no matter what the comeback will be.
I bet the "triple-chin" will think twice next time before she tries to cut someone down and feel superior.
True, it is sometimes better to say nothing (or glare, as I do) but sometimes you snap. People can't help it, OK?
I too have felt the ambush of "anonymous" commenters and guess what? Turned out to be just ONE person. I'm pretty sure that's the case here.
Anyhoo, back to the fashion and not personality. I like Karla even MORE now because she's honest and real. And her style, though nothing I would wear, is pretty darn special at times.

You look beautiful as always Karla! A big hug and kisses for my favourite fashionista!
Oh! how creative! would never though of doing that :) They dress looks great. I'm starting to miss your long hair though :p
btw, did you get crap for saying "triple chin" or something? Lol. Whatever. Loose weight people. And if they aren't overweight than there's no reason to get upset. I'm a size 2/4 and I naturally have a bigger chin than most in that size. I don't make a big deal out of it. People are so uptight. sigh.
i really like that wedding dress you made into a mini. would you mind making a toturial or explain how you did it? it looks like one could make it out of a regular t shirt!
LOVE. Perfect outfit for what seems to be a perfect day. xxx
your awesome outfit contrasts nice agaisnt the pretty background!

Hey you totally need to see Stella McCartney's fall09 RW collection! I'm not kidding, most of the time i thought she'd been visiting your blog or smt :D
I mean sure she's always had a thing for tailored suites but now, combined with the puffy 80s sleeves with the bold 80s print.. i don't know, just looked so you!
Do feel free to disagree tho ;)
What do you think about the Cousin it look-a-like fuzzy jackets and the a little over ancle length boots? I love stella, i do, but those i simply hated :S
