I spotted these last night and couldn't quite figure out what they reminded me of... then I remembered. They kind of resemble the clear plasticized platforms that galloped down the Chanel S/S 2009 runway. And yes, I am aware that they totally give away a stripper vibe, but I'm ssmitten by all the pretty pole dancer shoes I find online.

I wish I had a reason to wear fancy dresses everyday.

Really wanting some bright red lipstick. I'm dying to wear it, but I'm kind of afraid. Remind me to play with it soon.
Until next time xx

love the boots...but if they're the steven madden ones (i think they are), i must warn of their *strong* leather smell. i bought them and had to return them (also cus i should have gone up a 1/2 size). good luck!
You can wear whatever your heart desires on your wedding day! Doesn't have to be white.
Edamame + teryaki sauce = AMAZING
Ugh, I LOVE edamame so very much!
your wedding dress would be freaking amazing in any colour or style, i can imagine! and i think you would rock red lipstick too..
Brooke xx
Those polka dot platforms are amazing!
I must say that your Pleaser boots helped encourage me to buy stripper boots of my own. You can create so many looks with them, which is great. I got these amazing Steve Madden ones the other day-- black leather platforms with patent heel. Your style is impeccable btw.
love dat nude derek lam dress.
yum...that sounds delish...will be trying soon...love ur blog btw!!! you should check out mine, im kinda new at this and i'd love your expert advice. muchos gracias...

Where are those great boots from?
I love flat boots, and those are very pretty =D
And I love edamame but I always eat it with salt or soy sauce. I will try it with teriyaki sauce the next time I eat it. :)
wedding dresses can be any color you'd like, ditas was purple.
great boots, i love rome.
Yay for the spotted platforms!! Where did you find them?
What a fun post!
I think a wedding dress can be any colour, as long as you wear it and it doesn't wear you (...if you know what I mean!).
Your are going to LOVE Rome. It's fantastic. You should see if you can stop in Milan too. The tomatoes are to die for and so is the shopping!
That Derek Lam dress is 2D4.
And to answer your Q, no, wedding dresses don't HAVE to be white, in fact, in my latest post, you will see a picture of my wedding dress (and there is a link in my latest post which takes you to more pics):
http://www.brigadeirochoc.blogspot.com
Which had red, gold, silver, embroidery, painted silk as well as ivory...
I fell in love with this Akira Isogawa dress, and am SO glad I changed from the more traditional Monique L'Huillier frou frou to this in the last minute.
Love your boots! As well as edamame with teriyaki sauce :)
xx
i notice a surprising amount of stripper shoes in the goodwill stores of orange county. i need to send you a picture of these stripper toe shoes(like ballet toe shoes, but with a 6" heel) i found, they're out of control!
Hope we're able to see photos of your trip to Europe, I image it'll be nothing short of amazing fun. And yum @ the Teriyaki picture, haha.
I wish I had a reason to wear fancy dresses everyday too :/
And I think wedding dresses should reflect who you are, not just white. My moms' was white with the big black bow on the back, and black lace details (it was stunning trust me) :D
and soy sauce = love!
White wedding dresses are traditional, but not for everyone. I think you can work in your mixed ethnicity as a reason not to wear all white - LOL.
Those boots are sick! Have fun with them in Europe!
Love Japanese food! Yum!
And I love your outfit from the previous post!! I can't believe that your boyf got you that hat!! It's so awesome!
Lucky you going to Rome! But i'm getting a bit concerned - it's not good for your body to wear heels too frequently, right? So don't wear flats only in Rome! Hey, see the movie Roman holiday with Audrey before you go :)
You should totally try red lipstick! I think it would really suit you.
I think its funny that you mention edamame, my mom recently discovered them and has made me like them now too. I havent tryed it with teriaki sauce though.. will try.. =) We usually just put a bit of sea salt on them.
You will definitely need flats in Europe darling, I found that out fairly quickly!

those first shoes make me think of one thing and one thing only ...sweaty feet!
I've been searching for the perfect black flat biker boot for ages ...this is a supremely awesome choice.
your new boots are def. perfect you anyway gonna walk a lot so no painful blisters all the time! And London is gonna be a shopping marathon...!!
you dont have to wear white on your wedding day
I would love to wear fancy dresses every day.
I snack on edamame all the time... will have to try it with the teriyaki sauce. :)

Love those boots, where are they from? I was in Florence last week and the cobbles are awful for anything vaguely like a stiletto, so I think you'll do fine. Have a great time!
The problem is not the rain, it's that the streets are very old (roman streets) and it's impossible to walk, but you always can wear flats shoes like the ones in my blog http://viviagblog.blogspot.com
Enjoy your time in Europe.
Xoxo
Vivi
weel, I live in milan (florence is not that far) and I assure you that woman wear heels all the time! The only problem I see, is that you have to walk a lot around our beautiful cities..and heels are not so comfortable for that.
PS Actually, in this period it's raining a lot but..what about boots with a large heel (like in the 60's)?

Hello sweet Karla, so you're going to Europe. Which countries are you planning to visit? ... Or are you just going to Italy? Kiss*
Marry in blue he's the right guy for you, marry in yellow you got the right fellow, marry in grey be sad some day, marry in brown you'll live in town, marry in green ashamed to be seen, marry in red you'll wish yourself dead, marry in white it'll be all right.. my Grandma taught me that when I was little, she made wedding dresses for a living! xx
the derek lam dress is divine! and those shoes are so wonderfully trashy..
http://therefugex.blogspot.com/
when it comes to europe, you can wear whatever you love and want! thats the plus! do you come to london? paris is lovely!
Also, bring some heels! Cause it's true that it's a bit tricky to walk through Florence with heels when it's raining, but maybe you will have the luck of NO RAIN!
xx
No, wedding dresses don't always have to be white. I've seen black, purple, mint green, pink, etc, etc.
I'm also going to Europe in March! :)
Haha the thing about high heels in italian cobbled cities is that people tend to walk for hours and hours and hours on very uneven streets... plus, those boots are vv cute!
i'm popping over to paris for a few days in a couple of weeks... can't wait!
xxx
Aw, I wish I had reasons to wear a fancy dress everyday too! ...*Sigh*...I'm really loving that tan dress.
Much Love,
Carlita
The traditional white wedding dress is white to sybloise the wearers virginity before her marriage. But since most people are no longer virgins when they marry, alot of people have taken to wearing deep red which I think looks quite stunning - especially on an olive skin tone. I suppose it's up to you what colour you wear though. it's always good to be different =)
And about the red lipstick I think it would look fab on you! You should deffinatley go for it.
Plus I must also say that attempting cobbled streets here in europe in heels is deffinatley asking for a broken ankle!!
OF COURSE you can wear heels in Rome/Europe. People do it all the time...we have an average amount of rain, I suppose.
But if you just needed an excuse for purchasing something...there you go. :)
No to the wedding dress question!
Afterall its your wedding day and you should wear something you always wanted to wear (but didnt have the chance) and something you really like! Well IMO haha and i love the buckle boots where are they from? <3
i have those boots! i love them bc they are affordable, but look like the ann demeulmeester's. for everyone asking, they're from steve madden.
Comments on your Photos http://www.myfacehunter.com/2009/02/ruffle-truffle-karlas-closet.html#comments
Absolutely wedding dresses don't have to be white! :D
I LOVE THOSE BOOTS.
i love edamame...its kinda like popcorn so addictive:
umm i forgot to ask on your other post, whats that nail polish youre wearing on your toes with the mustard heels? im searching for a color like that but some of the brands look just cheap in brownish colors.thankss!
Fortunately, there is no law telling you that the wedding dress have to me white:-). I got married wearing a wine colored corset and a long blach, shimmery skirt, shaped a bit like marmaid tail:-)
Well, of course it can be hard to walk with heels on some streets, but I wouldn't say it is particularly rainy in Spring...and people DO wear heels all the time. Don't forget it's the Centre-South of Italy you're going to, not the North (where I come from..!) so definitely warmer.
And yes, Milan - as someone else suggested - is TOP spot for shopping, you might want to take a look!
Btw, boots look great, so...well done ;)
I was thinking about getting a similar pair myself
<3

You'll look gorgeous in red lipstick. Can't wait!!
Those are some shoes. Very nice looking. I love the derek lam dress, love the color, love everything about it.
The polka dot shoes are attractive, as is the Derek Lam dress. I don't think wedding dresses have to be white; a light shade of most colors would do. And the flat boots are quite the great ones.
;)
First, are you getting married??? That's amazing if you are. Second, no, they definitely do not have to be and I think it's much cooler if they aren't.
Third, I just got a pair of DKNY boots that are very similar to those and I loooooove them! Great find!
loves edamame =)
Maria
Oooh those are lovely, not quite as strong a statement as Doc Martens but they're still kinda tough if that makes sense.
I've never been the biggest fan of Emilio Pucci but that dress is absolutely incredible, I love the neckline;
http://thestitched.blogspot.com/
haha, that last thing made meg laugh :p Well, you have inspired me to by platform-shoes. Now over to next problem; how do I learn to walk in them? its paaaaainful :p
Ok, here's the thing. First time I went to Europe, I wore biker-style mid-calf boots with a thick heel and I was moderately fine. My feet were just a little sore.
Second time I went to Europe, I wore a different pair of mid-calf boots. But this time my feet were utterly destroyed. I sustained a foot injury that to this day bothers me. And this was 5 years ago. And I was no heel amateur. I wore heels/heeled boots to school everyday!
So those are the two sides to the story. Choose wisely!
PS. On your wedding day, you wear whatever you bloody damn want. People just began using white because they wanted to create a market of exclusivity on white fabrics (it was more expensive to produce and maintain). Wearing white only began to be in vogue last century with the Victorian Period.
Sorry for the super long post!
love that derek lam dress!!!it's so amazing!
I think if a certain dress makes you feel perfect then wear it on your wedding. I wore a nude and black lace dress b/c it ruled my world and was way more me. As for the red lipstick. Take baby steps. Start with a red sheer lipstick (mac has a good one), then move towards the real deal when you feel comfortable.
take the michael kors duck boots to italy!
they'll be perfect for the occasion!

These boots are AMAZING. I just got a pair about a month ago. Try using baseball glove leather conditioner to soften them up. I did and now my boots have that "I've had these forever" look.

egads. love the shoes...wherever did you find them?
i have never had edamame...will try it now for sure!
Europe?! Lucky girl. And those boots are gorgeous. Who are they by?
i dont think you have to wear white! do you remember gwen stefani's dip dyed pink and white gown? that was an interesting take!
I must admit something, everytime I see a new post from you on Bloglovin I feel happy. You make me happy with you style and inspiring posts.
As for your wedding dress, it doesn't have to be white, it doesn't have to look like a cake. It can be just like you want it to be :D
Haha this blog covers everything! And no wedding dresses definitely don't have to be white, depends if you want to appear pure and virginal, or just screw that and look super stylish and amazing :)
I dont think wedding dresses always have to be white, I saw someone in a red wedding dress once and that was so beautiful!
xx
Rome is a lovely city! And the Italian women wear high heels all the time, even on wet cobblestones;) So my advice: Take some nice heels with you!
concerning your trip to italy...
1. i doubt that you'll be short here. i'm 167cm (sorry don't know that in feets) and most of the time even when wearing flats i feel relatively tall.
2. it doesn't rain that much in rome usually, but if you pack some of those gorgeous shoes with you that you own i can bet that you'll get stuck in some random hole between the cobblestones... plus getting around the city by walking is so convenient that i'm sure you'll consider the money well spent when thinking of those boots.
Rome is gorgeous, be sure to eat lots of Tiramisu, it's amazing in Rome and if you want shopping check out via ottavio i think it's called they have some gorgeous shops there.
I also think that wedding dresses can be any colour, there is this coutour bridalwear shop near my house and they have this beautiful black dress even though that's the opposite extreme it is truly exquisite i'll try and snag a picture =]
yeeaaaahhh i did a lot of walking in italy. flats will become your friends. those boots are killer, either way they will be a welcome edition to anyone's closet.
and stripper shoes are the best things ever.
how tall are you?

I studied in Florence a couple of summers ago. My advice-- while you will be doing a ton of walking, Italian women ALWAYS wear heels (they even wear heels while driving vespas!). I took only one pair of heels, and spent most of the summer feeling shlumpy and underdressed. Take the heels!... and at least a couple of pairs of flats
Oh, have fun in Italy! Your boots are fabby, perfect for tackling uneven cobbles :)
wedding dressing should suit you the way the wedding should, and hopefully man too...
I wore an all black lace floor length Chanel dress to my wedding, it was perfect, just like that day.
shoo, i would get married in that antonio marras dress.
Hm..in my opinion nobody has to get married in white but I like it more.
Love the first black dress!
Kisses

Try NARS red lipstik in Jungle Red or Dior gloss in 757. I think they're versatile for any skintone. I'm so hooked at them, also my first time red lippies. :) I luv Italia!!!! Lucky girl!!!
wedding dresses are white because it's suppose to symbolize purity. however, it does not HAVE to be white.
love the boots, i have a similar pair.
red lipstick would look exceptional on you, especially because you have such a fair skin tone. i recommend NARS.
I wish I had the guts to wear something other than white/cream/ivory etc...on my wedding day. But as much of risk-taker as I am, I am still very much of a traditionalist. But you would look great in anything.
Red lipstick in so empowering. I like MACs.
And I love those boots. They'll fit right in, in Europe. :)
Your fablous! I love reading your blog daily...mind checking out mine? Just started and I'd love feedback. And yes we do wear alot of boots here...but heels are ok too.
Love the flat boots, and the edamame & teriyaki sounds worth the try!!
I agree with style crusader :
You can definitely wear whatever your heart desires on your wedding day! White, pink, purple (that's the color my mum was wearing for her wedding!)
xxx
Good plan with the boots! Europe in heels doesn't always work out very well! I had to bite the bullet and wear flats also...hehe
It will be very interesting you see you in flat boots (nice choice, by the way). And your love for stripper shoes is always well styled, so it's not bad :P
the chanel shoes of course are gorgeous but those hideous crap ones cannot even compare to the chanels its insulting
I didn't wear white on my wedding day. I wore a Cacharel silk wine colored dress with subtle floral patterns. It was a lovely Fall day. I've actually just recently posted some pictures of it. Feel free to come and visit me.

Wedge Heels are your best bet for cobblestones! Trust me! have fun in Rome! and Eat lots of Pasta! ask the locals where to go to get the best pastriess!
Ciao
Haha, guess no need to tell you like many others that there is no need to buy flats just because you're travelling to europe... it's funny how all americans think that european cities are made only of cobblesone :D and even if some are, youll get used to it in no time! I'm always wearing heels and its really no big deal!
AND especially Italian women love their heels like no other ;)
Trust me, women in Rome DO wear high heels. But I don't recommend it. I actually saw one woman who had to get help from a passerby to pry her heel from the dirt in between two cobblestones.
Also, Rome is the only European city I've seen that really has a lotta cobblestone streets. And even there it depends where in the city you are.
I love the boots though!
almost every italian girl wears high heels in rome or florence, so don't worry ;)
Great boots, but not all the streets are cobblestone!! And lots of women do wear heels. Plus, it doesn't rain THAT much. Not as much as here, anyway (England), although it's snowing now :) And that Derek Lam dress is beautiful. In fact, they all are!
being tall is not all it's cracked up to be. i'm 5'9 and have spent most of my life wishing i was shorter, so that i could wear ridiculously great, tall shoes without being able to see over the heads of everyone in all 4 cardinal directions.
needless to say, we all learn to embrace ourselves just the way we are.
love the polka dotted overshirt in the next post! keep up the great clothes.
Love the boots, you'll probably be thanking that person who advised you away from heals in Florench alot when you get there in these georgous boots!
Fashbashsoundclash X
Did you get the fiorentini + baker buckle boots? Have a good time on your trip!
those boots aren't Steve Maddens I think but Fiorentini and Baker.
The boots look an awful lot like my Wanted triumph boots. They were an awesome and affordable purchase this winter and I've worn them just about everyday
Hey Karla! I love your blog. Anyway, I stumbled upon this online store just last night, and it has an amazing selection of your favorite stripper-style heels for really low prices. :)
http://amiclubwear.com/index.html
I think it's a bad idea to wear heels in Europe, and most of all in historic towns like Florence and Rome, because there are no flats roads actually.
There are cobblestones on the ground everywhere in old parts of towns, so it's kind of difficult to walk with heels, you could broke your ankle.
:S
But if you're going to night clubs, or lounge bar, or in some beautiful hotel... take a pair of nice heels.
:D
I think wedding dresses are best white.. If it's not white, it's just another pretty dress. SJP wore a black one and she said she regrets it so bad.
Where in Europe are you going? I'm going to London in March :)Cobblestones are bad, they are challenging for me even with flat shoes!
Well, don't worry about your height. People in Italy are quite small.
You should definitely wear high heels in my country if you think you're really small...
Dutch people are the talles people in the world. Average height for men is 6'2" and for ladies is 5'8".
How tall are you?

has anyone figured out where to get those polka dotted platforms? i've been dreaming about them since she posted this!! karlaaa let us know!
stevie- Unfortunately I haven't been able to find them in my size at all, they were apparently a close-out item so most sizes are out of stock. But if you're a size 7, here's a link a site that carries them:
