The Rodarte Fall 08 Collection was definitely on my mind as I slashed and pulled yarns apart from this sweater that now resembles some sort of torn spider web. I had to wear it over a leotard because it kind of had holes in appropriate places, but other than that, I'm kind of impressed with my shredding skills.
Wearing vintage self-destroyed sweater, vintage geometrically patterned leggings, Bebe platforms, and American Apparel leotard

So you should be! It looks fantastic. Could wear it over patterned leotards/onepiece swimsuits too.
Great job! I wish it were Winter to try something similar...
your shredding skills are incredible indeed! dang, now i want to shred apart one of mine. soon to be diy =]
haha, creepy goth makes its comeback! i read in elle that this style was getting recycled.
looks good!
I am *Loving* this look! ...but i'm a sucker for patterned leggings =)
Also, what time were these pics taken? the lighting is so moody!
one last thing, can you link to my blog? i'm still quite new and not completely sure what that entails- but would appreciate it anyway! Thanks hun X

aww you've been looking extra cute and happy in your photos these days. I'm loving them even more as the days go by! Thanks for always posting fabulous outfits!
Another blogger was talking about doing this just a few days ago. Rodarte inspiration abounds! I know I'm inspired. Just need to find the right sweater.
The leggings are cute. I'm a sucker for anything graphic or black and white. Put them both together and mama likey.
You're giving serious face in that second pic!
Good job, it looks comfy!
do you think you could have a whole post on recreating some of your FANATSIC outfits with less expensive clothing
like where to find heels for under $100
or great clothing under $50 or $100
that would be great
you are so gorgeous, i love your blog, i check it every day after school :)
it makes me happy
i love your clothing/ style
i've totally never thought of the leotard thing before. i always wondered how people pulled off shredded things without any unneeded amount of awkwardness..
any way it looks great & i love your leggings!
Really creative. How did you do it?
this is such a simple yet detailed look; so complete!!!
i love it!
~kathy
The sweater looks great Karla.
I like the sweater...a lot!
My only critique is that with the sweater falling off the shoulder, leotard, and crazy patterned leggings together...it's a little much.
It's a replication of the 80s, not a reinterpretation which is what I'd rather see you do! Just my thoughts, it's your style and your blog so do what you want :)
you are so genius.
killer leggings
shredder à la teenage mutant ninja turtles ain't got nothin on you!
and those leggings are intense.
loves it
loves it
loves
*bisous*
that's hot.
i'm inspired.
xx
That is one wicked outfit.
I love the leggings and the sweater's great.
;)
i love this outfit, the legging, the sweater, your hair! it just all goes together perfectly. :)
Great job! :)
I think this is my favorite outfit.
You look GREAT in them
LOVE IT. wish i could pull it off, maybe i'll try a DIY... :)
thanks for the inspiration.
oh, by the way: i saw a bride coming out of a church the other day and as she was getting into a limo, she pulled up the hem of her dress and she was wearing those jessica simpson architectual (or whatever) platforms that you have in black, she had them in the kind of aligator white.
thought of you, and thought i'd share it. :)
I really like the bold print with the shredded sweater texture. Nice!
Your face structure is amazing, seriously! And I know, I don't think any of us can get our minds off that Rodarte... the sweater looks fantastic!
I just it when people have fun with fashion. It makes my heart grow warm.
gorgeous karla. love it. no back picture. :P
you deconstructed it so perfectly!
that second picutre is so fun =)
How did you destroy the sweater? I like that your style is now starting to go in a different direction again
Once again you get it so right! And I love the second photo. It's so spontaneous.
PS: Can you post some of the stuff you do at uni some time? I'm so curious!
You're blog makes my day
http://www.midnightravel.blogspot.com/
you look beautiful karla! i happened to attempt the same thing and i've been living in the sweater.
Great outfit! I love this sweater!
great job with the sweater!
i loved the slashed sweaters! i'm impressed with your slashing efforts, it looks very good. and i liked that you paired it with graphic leggings instead of the black tights that usually go with this look.
Love the leggins :). You look so beautiful with short hair because it really opens up your face.
I just found some leggings similar to those. SISter hand me downs. You look FAB.
Love this xx
nothin' like a good shred ;)
cool idea! i love the outfit!
i've had rodarte on my mind as well. great job on the diy sweater!
Very fashion forward, love it! You have a beautiful face too :D
I love leggings! :)
I'm not trying ot be mean but I must say I do agree with some of the comments from previous posts. Your style is just so much less effortlessly chic I think anyone could put together what you've been wearing recently and to be honest it's not even that nice!
You are a beautiful girl nonetheless, I love the hair :)
i like the whole look :)
I've been looking for a sweater to destroy as well. You did a great job, the sweater looks amazing!
amazing. i must try this asap. loving the hair!
that great that your destroyed sweater turned out so well! gorgeous

PS: congrats on the American Apparel campaign, it looks great! Though I prefer the way you style yourself here :)
lovely leggins...
i love the difference between both pics, in the first you look mad at the spectator, at the second one so happy, hahaha

you look great, love those leggings
you´re so pretty and i love your haircut.
LOVE the shredded sweater, don't love the leggings (they look a size too large), would love to see this paired with black opaques or skinny jeans and some overknee boots.
http://labelleetlaitgirl.wordpress.com
love this outfit, loving pattern leggings these days, good look.
please please please consider doing a closet video tour of your shoes and outfits, that would be insane.
Cute ......I love those shoes!
Very cute look Karla Karla! :-) Love the black and white.
you make this sweater look amazing!!
You rock the short hair and I Love your blog, but not a fan of this outfit. It sort of makes you look like a homeless person who found some nice shoes.
Love those leggings!
Shredding is fun.
I got carried away with a Tshirt once. Couldn't wear it.
Your result is very cool!
love it.
I love your outfit. The sweater with the leggings is so unique. Great job with the sweater.
The sweater is amazing, kind of like a topshop creation that i wanted but better. Could you possibly give me some tips on shredding a jumper like that?
t'es juste magnifique karla
The jumper is perfect. Topshop had it around November, but run out from the shops tooo quickly i couldn't buy one :(
oh myyy, you're just sooo beautiful!
and your shoes are gorgeous :)
i hope tacky is what you are going for. you are going to look back on this and think wtf
love your leggings
wow, it looks amazing! and i lovee those leggings!
xx
you look homeless...& stupid
I'm truly baffled in why people would think you have the slightest shred of style; you look trashy & like your trying too hard & are starving for attention....well your still a child, hopfully youll grow out of it
I always like your outfits, but i really don't like the legging this time...
But like your haircut;)
xxx
The sweather looks awesome.
I bought a sweater like that at Topshop a few months ago.
did you cut your hair again? i like it. :]
I've seen so many bloggers do the whole shredding thing (myself not included... I couldn't pull it off) but they all look the same. I love how you've managed to get a totally different spin on it, it looks so much more classy and artistic.
ah
great leggings! i like this look a lot
x
The sweater also reminds me of the shredded Alexander Wang one, very nice!
you look awesome!
the sweater is amazing! such a great look! will def give shredding a try!
would love it if you checked out my blog!

Gorgeous jumper (I'm british, it's what we call them over the pond)! I'm wimping out and waiting until Topshop's Rodarte copies come out, but you wear this so well!
xxx
I like it so much better knowing the sweater was DIY-ed. Looking great.
karla, you´re a genius!
I always admire your beauty and free spirit but this is so avantgarde!

Gosh, I LOVE it!! Not just the sweater but this entire outfit.

This outfit is fucking amazing.
cool leggings, and vintage-AWESOME. Have a great night. Jess S.
your most beautiful platforms. the others are so and so.
Job well done! Those platforms are so lovely.
The vintage geometrically patterned leggings actually looks like the Sprouse for LV neon leggings when I was browsing through your website! Haha.
I like your poses. You don't look pissed off all the time like all the other girls with "fashion" blogs.
^ I like that you smile too. I think it shows that you have a great personality. And your hair looks so great in this set of pictures. Pretty girl!
love your hair! and the tights as well.

it looks great. i'm sure you'll get a nice breeze too
I love the leggings with this look. It sort of gives a simple, comfy outfit that pop it needs :)
Fantastic! Tres chic ;)
real cute ma
Bravo Karla! Great job! I love this sweater
mtcloset.blogspot.com
I tried to do this aswell but didn't have such good luck nor skills, damn :D
the shredded sweater is OK but it looks SO BAD with those goofy leggings which are not chic at all but just stupid. the look is made even more awful by the shoes, which are fine in other contexts but do NOT work with this look at all.
you look way too 80s - the point is to subvert the 80s pieces, not just look like you are actually from the 80s. and your haircut is EXTREMELY 80s so you need to be really careful how much 80s stuff you pile on.
there are a lot of ways you could make this sweater work and be totally avante-garde but you're not doing it at all.
please give those leggings back to the homeless child you stole them from.
To those whom leaves the most silly and envy message:
This is Karla'scloset blog not yours so she can wear whatever she wants. If you like what she wear then leave a nice comment and if you don't than just exit the site. You can't tell she look bad or her sweater don't go with her legging. I think Karla have a great fashion style and she wear them it confident even a paper bag will look good on her. I think this is great great outfit on her. I love the sweater, the pant, the shoes and her hair. JUST DON'T HATE.
I LOVE YOU KARLA.
amazing look.
sweater and pants are so amazing. i really want them :)
xx
Great Sweater!
What is better than big comfy sweaters? This certainly is reminiscent of Rodarte. I really want to try this now!
LOVELY! I have those same shoes.
We love this sweater. Very Rodarte- well done!

I was just browsing the AA site and saw you :) Congrats, they made a great choice by featuring you :)
Sometimes you get it so right, other times not. I'm not liking this look, I do think you're trying too hard to look like something you're not, and it doesn't suit you. To anonymous 7:37..."If you like what she wear then leave a nice comment and if you don't than just exit the site. You can't tell she look bad or her sweater don't go with her legging." YOU ARE SO WRONG, Karla puts her outfits up here in a public domain, and lets us comment, good AND bad. If she didn't want us to, the comments would be turned off. She puts her outfits up so we CAN compliment and critique, you need to get over it and stop trying to protect her. I'm sure she can handle it, she gets 99% positive comments anyway. Grow up.
Dear Karla:
How is it that you can make such 'vintage' (read: dated) fashions look so smokin' hot?
That makes me want a pair of floral leggings. So so bad.
Love,
Yess
dreadfully tacky
ew
the fugly leggings ruin it
Hello Karla!
I'm a portuguese girl and I've been following your blog for a few weeks. I love it! Of course, you've heard this a million times. But I think that you have a great fashion sense and so much confidence!
The way you dress is kind of new to me, because in my country, Portugal, people don't dress very well. So sad.
Congratulations!
as usual is obvious is the same hater that writes the same stupid comments under "anonymous" in EVERY post. "you're trying too hard" "starving for attention"... you're the stupid one. Karla
is so popular ALL over the world. If she was "trying" too hard, Amer App, Teen Vogue, Allure, Urban Outfitter, etc. would not look for her. Do some research BEFORE you open your mouth! I admire her for not wasting her time on people like you!
Hi Karla,
I just came across your blog a few days ago. I must say I love those Bebe heels. I have been looking all over for the perfect pair of platform pumps with chunky heels, and you've incidentally ended my search for it.
Just a question though, are they comfortable to walk in? Can you dance in them? Thanks for the great help!
love the leggings!
Karla dear,
I concur with some of the other readers. Sweater shreddin' tips please? :)
